The Application Gates Are Open

Posted by on March 4th, 2012

Along with the plum blossoms, the first flurries of applications are arriving!

There’s nothing quite like the smell of fresh applications in the morning, still warm from the friction of electron-transmission.
Though, to be sure, paper and snail-mail are perfectly acceptable and have their own appeal. The satisfying rip of the envelope flap to extract the clipped packet, the  flutter of pages, the slant of penmanship, the size of text and font.
Whatever the method, the applications all make one promise: writers gathering the last week of July under the Napa sky, (fogged over or bright with sun), to hone their craft, talk shop, write, listen, write some more.

    Hello there,

I am a poet from the Point Reyes area and have thoroughly enjoyed coming for lectures in the past. I did not apply this year because I had thought I had a conflict with a family event which has now changed. I am writing to find out if there are any openings in any of the poetry seminars, and/or a waiting list for last minute cancellations.

    Thanks so much,

Hi, Nancy – I’ve forwarded your post to the Poetry Director Nan Cohen; she’ll get back to you about any possible openings in any of the workshops. However, you can always attend any of the lectures and readings. We’ll be posting the 2012 line-up soon! Check under The Conference tab to find the updated Public Lectures and Readings. Hope to see you there, Lakin (Fiction Director)
